Hexi House: Emergency Shelter Design Development

Hexi House Design Development

This project involved the detailed exploration of various hexagonal pod designs in an effort to identify a viable product that could ultimately be marketed as an easy to assemble garden pod or deployed as an emergency shelter.

External cladding was tested for weather resistance and a full sized prototype was eventually built.  

The project was developed over a three year period with financial support from both the Arts Council of NI and InvestNI and although Hexi House has yet to go into full production, a considerable amount of specialist knowledge has been acquired in this field.
